Wireless Concepts has completed construction and integration of a new Distributed Antenna System at the iconic Chicago Union Station. This new leading-edge system delivers enhanced 4G/5G high-speed services for the largest U.S. wireless provider. Today thousands of daily commuters will have access to the latest wireless technology through the most innovative and robust system ever designed by the Wireless Concepts team. Coverage and capacity advancements are inclusive throughout the Great Hall, North & South tracks, ticketing area, terminal/gates, food court, and lower level. In the words of the great Sean Connery, “that’s the Chicago way.”
Union Station, also Amtrak’s Midwest flagship station, serves long-distance passenger trains and is also the downtown terminus for six Metra commuter lines. Since 1972, all Amtrak services in Chicago originate and terminate at Union Station.
An iconic building, Chicago’s Union Station was originally designed by Daniel Burnham and completed by Graham, Anderson, Probst and White in 1925. Today it is owned by Amtrak and is the nation’s 3rd-busiest station overall. With more than 300 trains per day, more than 3 million Amtrak customers and 35 million Metra passengers use the station annually.
